Booking Major Attractions in Paris
If you’re planning to see some of the major sites, like Saint-Chapelle, or the Arc de Triomphe, I recommend purchasing directly from their website. Try to purchase as far in advance as you can. Some sites open ticket sales 3 months in advance and some open them up one month in advance. Check the websites and mark your calendar to be the first to purchase when your date opens up. For things like the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, the Catacombs or Palais Garnier you might want to consider purchasing from Get Your Guide. This is a highly rated legitimate company that offers guided tours for most of the sites in Paris. The guides are locals who make a living sharing their love of their city with others. The price will be a little more than a regular ticket but in my experience it has always been more than worth it. You can also get skip the line tickets through them. Some attractions don’t have a skip the line option but many do and Get Your Guide knows which ones do and which ones don’t.
The first time I went to Versailles I bought the premium package that included a driver who picked us up at our hotel. He drove us to Versailles and stayed with us the whole time telling us all the details of each room as we walked through. It was expensive but very worth it. Our guide was deeply knowledgeable about everything at Versailles including the gardens. I used them again when I went with my kids but we opted for the bus option which was cheaper. They gave us the address where the bus was picking everyone up at (I believe in the 7th arrondissement ) and we jumped on the metro and showed up at the check in time. It was a really nice luxury bus with air conditioning. They dropped us off and then picked us up at an assigned time to go back to Paris. You could also opts to not take the bus back and take the metro instead, which is very easy from Versailles. I’ve also booked with them for the Eiffel Tower as well as Palais Garnier.
I know many people like to visit these places independently but for anyone wanting a little extra, or for people who have mobility issues and are happy to let someone else guide them, then this is something worth checking out. Their site is also a great option if tickets are sold out on the main website for the attraction. They also offer tours to see the castles in the Loire Valley, which is a glorious excursion from Paris, as well as other places like the Normandy Beaches, Mont-Saint-Michel and Giverny.
