Love Letter to Paris…..

“My love, I’m writing to tell you that I’ve made the decision to dedicate my life to every part of you. Our love affair has had a profound effect on me. I’ve fallen so hard that I can’t stay away. When we collided you literally took my breath away. Meeting you changed who I am as a person. I haven’t been the same since. Not seeing you regularly hurts. Let’s fix that my love. I promise to visit more often and stay longer. You can take me to all your favorite places. Please promise to tell me everything. I promise to listen with an open mind. I want to tell the world about you from my own perspective, and with my own voice. À bientôt mon amour”.

Now I know that sounds like it’s to a lover who has put his imprint on one’s mind, body and soul. Well, I can tell you that it is. And it isn’t.

I have been known to fall in love with cities before. There were times when I have sat on airplanes looking out at the landscape below with a heavy heart and watery eyes. When I got home I would tell anyone who would listen about the place I had just been “I literally cried on the plane when we left” to convey to them just exactly how much I loved the place. Cuzco, Peru was one of them.

Mother and baby, Cuzco, Peru. They both have the exact same same expression on their faces!

It’s one of the most glorious places on earth, beautiful scenery, you cant go wrong with the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu and the Inca trail. But the people were like nothing I had ever seen or imagined. Add in Athens, Sydney, New York, and Seattle. All cities that I have loved.

This beautiful soul was carrying branches that were bigger than she was when I stumbled upon her in Italy.

Well now let’s get back to that letter. As I mentioned above I’ve had many past “city” loves. And I truly have loved them all. But have you ever heard someone refer to another as “the one true love of my life”?  Well, Paris is that for me. And so yes, the letter is to Paris.

I won’t be writing about photoshoots at Trocadero, or tips and tricks on how to navigate French Disneyland. I may or may not give my two cents on the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre at some point. Although those are really amazing, and if you’ve never been you have to go, there are just many other smaller, lesser known museums in Paris that I want to write about. My blog will have a food and wine focus with an emphasis on people. Chefs, Sommeliers, and everyday Parisians. There will also be excursion highlights. Other places to go in France from Paris and how to get there. I’ve been to France many times but this past year I went four times for several weeks at a time. Mainly writing and finalizing things for my blog. During my travels I have met so many amazing people, many that are now good friends. Many of my first blog posts will be about these travels.
