New Michelin Guide Restaurant in Paris

Capsule Restaurant in Paris’ 14th arrondissement

If you’re looking for an authentic, farm to table meal in Paris, that won’t break the bank, then duck away from the busy Paris streets into the 14th arrondissement to Restaurant Capsule. The restaurant has only been open a year and has already been recognized by the Michelin Guide.

I’m definitely not a picky eater, but I am very particular about the quality of the food that I eat, especially meat. I don’t usually order meat dishes in restaurants because it’s so often dry, rubbery, chewy, and just not very good. Restaurants that let you know where they source their products from, often listing the exact farm that they buy from, can almost always be trusted as far as the quality of their products. I’m not a vegetarian, but I usually opt for the seafood option when dining out. But sometimes, If I see the source listed, I will order a beef or pork dish. This restaurant had all of their farm sources listed and so I ordered the braised beef. My friend ordered the pork. Both dishes were cooked so perfectly, we didn’t  need our knives at all, they were fork tender, and melting apart. These were both large, boneless pieces of meat. I could tell right away it was high quality, it was moist and juicy with amazing texture, not ropey, the way meat can get when it’s been in the freezer for a long time or thawed and refrozen. We both ordered a lovely red burgundy that they had by the glass for only nine euros. There were other items on the menu like scallops, fish, and a vegetarian option.

They also had several desserts and a cheese selection. You can enjoy a three course lunch here for €28, which is incredibly reasonable for this quality of food. If the sun is out you can sit at one of their cute little sidewalk tables. This is a great people watching spot. The staff were all very kind and accommodating. When I was there we sat outside and it started raining, they immediately rushed out to help us find a table inside. If you’re looking for amazing food away from the crowded streets of Paris I highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is on the corner of Rue Cassini and Rue de Faubourg Saint Jacques. It’s walking distance from Saint-Germain, about a half mile up from Luxembourg Gardens (walk there through the garden!) and just over a mile from the Latin Quarter, and two miles by foot from the Louvre. Metro line six will get you within a seven minute walk from the restaurant.
