Bistronomy in Paris’ 5th Arrondissement
Flocon is located on one of the most ancient streets in Paris. With some buildings dating back to the 12th century, Rue Mouffetard was once a Roman road from the Neolithic era. Hemingway referred to it as “that wonderful, narrow, crowded market street…”
The restaurant opened in 2019 when the chef Josselin Flocon was only 24 years old. The restaurant is small and simple inside yet very classy and comfortable. The entire back wall of the restaurant is made of floor to ceiling windows that open up to a gorgeous green space.
On the menu you can typically find three starters, three or four mains, and three desserts. If you’re looking for a large variety of menu items you won’t find that here. Go in with an open mind and trust the chef. Even though it’s a small menu, everything is thoughtfully curated and meticulously prepared. They use locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and therefore the menu changes often. Sustainability is very important to them and they opt to work with farmers and fishermen who share the same values. When I’m going with a friend, we usually try to order all three of the appetizers, two of the entrées and one dessert to share. This works well because the portion sizes aren’t huge and it allows you to try most things on the menu!
To start, you can usually find things like veal tartare, or smoked fish along with a vegetarian option. Main dish choices are typically a seasonal vegetarian dish, something with seafood and a meat dish. The meat option will likely be beef, or chicken, sometimes pork. . I had the chicken when I was last there and it was some of the most tender chicken I have ever eaten in my life. You could cut right through it with your fork.
The wine list is also small, but wines are carefully selected to pair with the food. The majority of them are natural wines. And you can get a glass of Champagne for €14!
They offer a fixed price lunch on Fridays and Saturdays for €30.
This is a great place to go if you have meat eaters, pescatarians or vegetarians in your group. There’s something for everyone.

Cool pictures!
I’m sure Hemingway’s spirt is all over Rue Mouffetand and he would’ve loved Flocan had it been around in his time 😉
Love all the details, definitely gonna check this place out!
